My search for a literary agent continues. Some agents that pass send short, “Not for me,” responses or longer form letter rejections, due to the large number of submissions they receive. However, every so often a more personalized letter arrives that gives me hope I’m on the right path, such as this one from a NYC agent:

Regarding ABANDONED, thank you for forwarding one of your recent manuscripts. You certainly know how to build the suspense while ramping up the tension. I also enjoyed your writing style, as your scenes unfolded seamlessly. Overall this premise is intriguing, and with your opening sentences you’ve done a great job hooking your readers.
